Due to the changing priest availability, St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Faith Community was in need of a larger worship space to accommodate its parishioners with fewer Sunday masses. After doing a study of the existing facilities and looking at the possibility of expanding on the present site, the decision was made to start a new on a site just outside the current city limits. The site is a beautiful parcel of land with vistas of trees and bluffs.
The congregation desired a church building that was "country". In an effort to provide a country feeling to the building, a monochrome color scheme was chosen using a white split faced masonry unit for the main exterior and interior material. A dark colored roofing material was used as an accent with a medium grey cedar fascia. The hidden roof structure is that of common wood trusses with tongue and groove stained wood ceiling. An ambulatory created by columns, floor tile color and ceiling height changes provide a complete pathway around the nave for processions, the way of the cross, and overflow seating space. Two wings along each side of the nave provide for significant shrine spaces.
